📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Season Opener. The field hockey team opened its season this weekend with a 3-0 shutout over Longwood. The Spiders had 26 shots and 14 were on goal. Jess McMeeking, Clara Larripa and Lainey Nichols each scored. The women fell to No. 1 Northwestern 4-0 on Sunday. Richmond is now 1-1 so far this season.

🔼 Just Short. The football team came up short against No. 14/15 Lehigh in its season opener. Richmond fell 21-14. Kyle Wickersham scored the first touchdown of the game on a one yard run. Isaiah Dawson had a 99 yard kickoff return touchdown in the third quarter. 🏈 Read more about the game.

🔼 Top 3. The cross country team opened its season hosting the Spider Alumni Open on Saturday. The men’s and women’s teams each placed third. Andy Condon finished 12th in the 6k. Hallie Muniz took 13th in the 4k. 👟 See more finishing times.

🔼 It’s a Draw. The soccer team faced Howard on Sunday and tied 1-1. Kiley Fitzgerald scored in the second half to tie the game. Richmond had nine shots and three were on goal.

🔼 He’s Back. Former Spider student-athlete Jim Merritt returns to Richmond as the first Associate Athletics Director of Basketball Development. He will be charged with helping the Spider men's and women's basketball programs develop the resources required to continue to compete at a championship level in the Atlantic 10. 🏀 Read more about Merritt.

Watch Them. Four field hockey athletes were named to the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Watchlist. Clara Larripa, Valen Luna Paratore, Grace Wiggins and Amy Stripling were honored. This marks the second time being named to the list for Larripa and Luna Paratore. They were also named to the 2025 Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Preseason All-Conference Team. 🏑  Learn about each athlete.
