Spiders Morning Jolt 2/12: First Dubs

The men's and women's lacrosse teams won their first games of the season.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 First Dub. The men’s lacrosse team got its first win of the season against Robert Morris 23-7. The team’s 23 goals tied for the second most in program history. Aidan O’Neil led with six goals and six assists, which tied the program record for more points in a single game. 🥍 Here’s how it all happened.

🔼 More Records Broken. The track and field team split up into two groups to compete at the Darius Dixon Invitational and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. The Spiders recorded a new program record in the DMR with a time of 11:10.35 for a second-place finish. Alicia Dawson took second place in the triple jump with a measurement of 12.57m, which is the No. 1 all-time program record. 👟 See more scores and times here. 

🔼 Makin’ it Happen. The men’s tennis team swept Marquette 7-0. The Spiders secured the doubles point, and Paxton Pritchard rounded out singles action for the win. The men also beat Dayton 4-3 on Sunday. Mark Taranov got the clutch win on singles court No. 6.

🔼 Switch it Up. The men’s basketball team took down La Salle 82-65 and scored 27 points in the final nine minutes of the game. What was the difference? Dji Bailey was put in at center. He led the team with 22 points, also a career-high for him, and Isaiah Bigelow was next with 17 points. 🏀 Read about the whole game here.

🔼 Dubs on Top of Dubs. The women’s basketball team beat George Washington 83-61 for its 11th win of conference play. Rachel Ullstrom had 24 points, and Maggie Doogan had 19. The team now has an 18-straight-game win streak and is 11-0 inside the Robins Center. 🏀 Read more about the game here.

🔼 Short Trip. Some of the swim and dive athletes competed at the Cavalier Invitational this past weekend. Katie Chignell finished in fifth place in the 500 free preliminaries, Laura Davis finished 11th in the 200 IM preliminaries and Emma Martin finished fifth in the 400 IM preliminaries.
