Spiders Morning Jolt 5/1: Men's Golf is A-10 Champs!

The men's golf team won the Atlantic 10 Championships.


Good morning, Spiders. The men’s golf team won the Atlantic 10 Championships! In round three, the men combined to shoot 15-under par, matching the lowest single round in program history. Richmond finished with an overall score of 850 (-14). Lucas Rizo-Patron won individual medalist honors with a score of 203 (-13). His score matches the second lowest tournament score in program history.

🔼 Moving On! The men’s lacrosse team beat UMass 11-7 in the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals. The No. 3 and top-seeded Spiders will advance to their nation-best 12th consecutive conference championship game. Richmond will face Saint Joseph’s on Saturday at noon at Robins Stadium. Aidan O’Neil set a new single-season assist record with 42 on the year. He tallied four assists Thursday as part of a season-high-tying seven-point performance. Connor Knight had 13 saves in goal.

🔼  Postseason Honors. The women’s lacrosse team had multiple Spiders named to Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors. Alexis Morton was named the Offensive Player of the Year. Abby Francioli earned Goalkeeper of the Year. Head coach Anne Harrington was selected as Coach of the Year. Three Spiders were named First Team All-Atlantic 10: Morton, CC Jacobs and Francioli. Five Spiders earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors: Bridget Lonsinger, Emma Kroneberger, Rileigh Meyer, Reagan Quinn and Mia Valerio. Grace Hallahan was named to the All-Rookie Team, while Meyer also earned a spot on the All-Academic Team.

🔼  Conference Awards. The men’s lacrosse team received many Atlantic 10 postseason and all-conference selections. Aidan O’Neil was named the Offensive Player of the Year. Hunter Smith was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year. Joe Sheridan earned Midfielder of the Year. Vincent Gaylord was named the Rookie of the Year. Head coach Dan Chemotti earned Coach of the Year. First Team honorees included Gavin Creo, Lucas Littlejohn, Brayden Penafeather-Stevenson, and Jack Pilling, along with Sheridan, Smith, and O'Neil. Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selections included Gaylord, Michael Farrell, and Connor Knight. Gaylord also earned All-Rookie Team honors, while Creo, Penafeather-Stevenson, and Sheridan were named to the All-Academic Team.

🔼  Staff Updates. The women’s soccer team added Jessie Newton to the coaching staff. Newton will be an assistant coach. She has experience across the collegiate, youth and international levels, including recent work as an assistant coach and director of player development at Oakland University. At Oakland, Newton played a key role in the program's on-field and off-field development, assisting with recruiting, training sessions and match preparation while designing individualized development plans for players.

Welcome! The women’s basketball team signed Alexandra Vandiver to the 2026-27 roster. She is a 6’1” forward. As a senior, she averaged 17.6 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 43 percent from three-point range. Kresge also added Emma Schoen. Schoen is a 5’7” guard. At Silver Creek High in Sellersburg, Ind., She totaled 1,243 career points, ranking fourth all-time, while setting school records in three-pointers made with 222 and free throw percentage at 87 percent.
