🔼 Capture the Cup. It’s almost time for football Saturday, when the Spiders will take on William & Mary in The Captial Cup Presented by C&F Bank. Our boys are 6-1 and look to improve their standing in “The South’s Oldest Rivalry.” How old, you may be wondering? This will be the 134th time the teams meet, and it’s one of the biggest since the series stands at 64-64-5. Make sure to follow football on Instagram, and Twitter and listen to Spiders Radio for everything you need to know about the matchup. 🏈 Here are some game day notes.

🔼 Closing a Chapter. The cross country team finished its season at the NCAA Southeast Regionals, where the women finished in 18th of 34 teams and the men in 21st of 33 teams. Elizabeth Stockman led the women in the 6k with a 20:57.6 time. The men were led by Jordan Bendura, who ran a personal best of 30:29.5 in the 10k. 🏃 Read more about the results here.

Career Highs. If the Spiders win this weekend’s game, then head coach Russ Huesman will hit a milestone for career wins as a head coach.

Triumphant Trusler. The CAA loved what Aaron Trusler did on the gridiron last weekend and named him the Special Teams Player of the Week. He averaged 45.2 yards on four punts and executed a slick fake punt. Trusler leads the CAA in punts fair caught with 28 and punts inside the 20 with 21. Speaking of the CAA, if the Spiders win on Saturday, they will clinch a share of the CAA title. 🏈 Read more about Trusler here.
