Spiders Morning Jolt 3/15: Season Firsts

DJ Pacheco hit his first home run this season against Lafayette.

Good morning. The celebration has been nonstop for the women’s basketball team. They even got a special cake! Congrats on being automatic qualifiers to March Madness.

🔼 Go Ball! The Spiders had a close game against Lafayette, falling short by just one run, 7-6. The Spiders started the game with a solo home run by DJ Pacheco. His hit over the left-field fence was his first home run of the season. Logan Ymker threw a career-high seven strikeouts. ⚾️ Read more about the game here.

🔼 Fate. The men’s basketball team had a super close game against Saint Joseph’s in the A-10 quarterfinal game. The Spiders led by two points at halftime but lost the game 66-61. Neal Quinn led the team with 21 points. Jordan King was also in the double digits with 17 points. However, it was not enough against Saint Joseph’s guard Erik Reynolds, who had 30 points. The Spiders will learn their post-season fate Sunday evening when the fields for the NCAA Tournament and NIT are announced. 🏀 Read about the game here.

Goal Met! Throughout the men’s basketball season, Food Lion donated 100 meals for every free throw made. Before the finish of the regular season, the Spiders met their donation goal! There were 30,000 meals donated this season to feed our neighbors in need.
