Spiders Morning Jolt 5/13: Series Win for Baseball

The baseball team won its series over Rhode Island.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Runner Up. The track and field team competed in the ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track and Field Championships and finished in second place. Alicia Dawson had a pair of first-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump. She was named the Female Performer of the Meet. Stuart Terrill was the 2024 IC4A 10K champion, finishing with a time of 29:26.63.

🔼 New Addition. The men’s basketball team has a new guard coming to the team. Apostolos Roumoglou is a 6’8” guard from Xanthi, Greece. He helped Connecticut to two consecutive NCAA National Championships. As a Husky, Roumoglou played in 44 games. Last season, he registered 23 points and 11 rebounds in 24 games. 🏀 Read more about Roumoglou here.

🔼  Series Win! The baseball team won its series against Rhode Island this past weekend 3-2 and 21-2. In game one, Aaron Whitley started the game right off the bat with a double to left on the first pitch. In game two, the Spiders bats were hot. The team had 20 hits, and Connor Larson hit a two-run home run. The men dropped game three 2-5.

🔼 Season Finale. The women’s lacrosse team played in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against No. 8 Penn and lost 16-5. Colleen Quinn, Charlotte Edwards and Grace Muldoon were the three goal scorers for the Spiders. The Spiders end their season 13-6 overall and 7-2 in conference play. 🥍 Here’s more about their final game.

Greek Gods. The men’s basketball team added another Greek player to its 2024-25 roster, Apostolos Roumoglou.

New Spider. The men’s basketball team welcomes George Washington III, a 6’2” guard to the 2024-25 roster. Washington III recently played at Michigan, where he played 22 games as a freshman. He had a total of 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists in 6.6 minutes per game. 🏀 Read more about Washington III here.
