Today, we're looking at the women's basketball team beating Appalachian State.

🔼 Great Eight. The women’s basketball team won its eighth game of the season against Appalachian State 80-77 in overtime. The Spiders bounced back in the second half, scoring 21 points in the third and 14 in the fourth to tie it up at 65. Overtime was a close one, but the women outshot App State 15-12 to take the win. Maggie Doogan led the team with 28 points, making shots even in the most unexpected moments. 🏀 Here’s a play-by-play of how we beat the Mountaineers.

🔼 Freshman Goes Off. Facing SEC-foe Florida in front of a hostile crowd at the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise, Fla., Spiders freshman guard Mikkel Tyne turned in a career performance. His 16 points and 5-7 shooting from three-point range kept the Spiders in the game throughout, with UR ultimately falling to Florida 87-76. Isaiah Bigelow and Neal Quinn both scored 17 points for Richmond, and Jordan King added 14. 🏀 Read more about the game here.

Head Coach Highlights. The men’s XC head coach and assistant T&F coach, Steve Taylor, has been named the recipient of the 2023 USATF Brooks Johnson Development Chair of the Year. Taylor was a successful athlete and has proven so in coaching, too. He’s been a part of many different committees, and his work, commitment, expertise, contributions and service all stacked up to make him the best fit for the prestigious accolade. 🪑 Read more about Taylor here.
