⚽️ Spiders earn a home-opening victory
📝 A letter from the AD
🕷️ And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Strong Start. Behind a shutout from McKenna Dalfonso and an own goal from the opposition in the 23rd  minute, the Richmond soccer team opened the 2024 home slate with a 2-0 win over Longwood. The shutout improved the Spiders to 1-0-1 on the young season. Forward Anna Garcia netted her second career goal, the first for the Spiders, finishing on the only shot on frame for the home team. Richmond will continue the home slate on Sunday, as the team plays host to Howard at 2 p.m. for Senior Day where 14 Spiders will be honored before kickoff.

🔼 Not Sorry. Richmond wide receiver Nick DeGennaro has been named to the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List as one of 10 CAA Football standouts to make the list. The watch list is comprised of the nation's top NFL Draft prospects and was selected by the Senior Bowl staff which includes 13 scouts with more than 200 years of NFL experience. DeGennaro finds his name on the list after the 2023 season saw him start all 13 games on his way to being named Second Team All-CAA and tying the program record with 11 touchdowns in a single season.

🔼 Camp Notebook: DB’s. In the latest edition of the Richmond Football Camp Notebook, it’s time to dive into the depth chart of the Spiders’ defensive backs. Richmond's secondary will rely largely on its four seasoned starters heading into the 2024 season.

🏈 Captain Jabril Hayes finds himself rolling with the first stringers at free safety for the first time during August's training camp. D’Angelo Stocker, one of this season’s starting corners, played in all 13 games last season as a redshirt freshman and has quickly moved into veteran status among Richmond's secondary unit.

🤔 SPIDERS TRIVIA

Going The Other Way. The Spiders will be looking to carry over one key component on defense that the team excelled in last season: takeaways. In 2023, the group led the Spiders to a No. 8 ranking in takeaways with 23 and were at the top of the FCS in defensive touchdowns with five.

How many interceptions did the team leaders in interceptions, Jabril Hayes and D’Angelo Stocker, record last season?
