🔼 Tourney Time! The women’s basketball team notched the No. 10 seed in the 2024 NCAA D-I Women’s Basketball Championships! The Spiders will take on No. 7 Duke in the first round on Friday, March 22 at 2:30 p.m. ET. This is the first time Richmond has been in the tournament since 2005 and the program’s fourth appearance overall. 🏀 Get more information here. 

🔼 More Hoops. The men’s basketball team will take on Virginia Tech in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament on Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN 2. This is the program’s first NIT appearance since reaching the quarterfinals in 2021. It is the fourth NIT appearance under Chris Mooney and the 10th postseason appearance under Mooney. 🏀 Read more about Richmond’s NIT history here.

🔼 All-Time Records. With 227 career points, Dalton Young sits at second all-time in Spider history. Young’s goal at the 9:09 mark in the men’s lacrosse game against Duke moved the fifth-year senior up in the record book.

🔼 From Start to Finish. The women’s lacrosse team beat Davidson 15-7 in the first game of its home conference schedule. Freshman Abby Fancioli started in goal, had 17 saves and allowed seven goals. She had the highest save percentage for a freshman in her first career start as a Spider at 70.8%. In the four quarters, the Spiders picked up seven, one, two and five goals. 🥍 See who scored here.

🔼 Get ‘em In. The baseball team faced Cornell this weekend and won the first game 8-4. DJ Pacheco had a six RBI day off of five hits. He hit a grand slam in the bottom of the second to bring in four runs. Next was a base hit that brought in two more runs. The Spiders also won the third game 8-4. Jason Shockley hit a three-run home run to break the 2-2 tie and give Richmond the lead to ultimately win the game.

🔼 First and Second. The women’s golf team competed in the Low Country Intercollegiate and placed second with a score of 907 (+43). Hannah Lydic finished first individually with a score of 221 (+5). This was Lydic’s second win of her career. She is now the third Spider to ever win multiple full-field events. ⛳️ See the other golfer’s scores here.
