🔼 One Up. The long-awaited match-up finally happened, and the Spiders beat No. 22 Rhode Island 24-17. The defense was hungry as they recorded six sacks for a total loss of 31 yards, and three of them were by Jeremiah Grant. Nick DeGennaro was DeGoat with his six receptions for a career-high 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Aaron Banks had an interception to set up Richmond’s first scoring drive. Quarterback Kyle Wickersham ran in a touchdown. 🏈 Read more about the game here.

🔼 Steady Second. The women’s cross country team got another second place finish this season in the NCAA Pre-Nationals. Out of 15 teams in the Orange 6k, the Spider women scored 139, and Elizabeth Stockman placed third with a new personal best of 20:53.2. The men finished in sixth place out of 11 teams with a score of 165. Jordan Bendura led the Spiders with a time of 24:43.0, which was his personal best and placed him in 14th.

Speaking Numbers. The football team put up some big numbers in the Rhode Island game and also held the Rams to a very low ground yardage.

Back to Back. The women’s swim and dive team opened its season with two back to back wins over Davidson and George Mason. First they beat Davidson 157-147, and the Spiders took first in six events. Next, the women swept George Mason 177-122. This is the programs fifth consecutive sweep of the Richmond Duals. The Spiders took first through third place in three events: 3-meter dive, 400-meter IM, and 500-meter freestyle.
