🔼 Season Opener. The women’s basketball team won its first regular-season game of the 2025-26 season. The Spiders demolished Mount St. Mary’s 83-49. Maggie Doogan led the game with a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds. Rachel Ullstrom and Ava Persichetti each had 12 points. The Spiders shot 44.4% from the field. 🏀  Read more about the victory.

Field hockey athlete Amanda Cimillo was named to an Atlantic 10 Conference honor for the final week of the season. Cimillo earned Defensive Player of the Week. This is her second weekly honor. The goalkeeper collected the double overtime victory against VCU to secure the top seed in the A-10 Championship and a share of the 2025 A-10 regular season title.

🤔 SPIDERS TRIVIA

Tonight’s Game. The men’s basketball team plays tonight! The Spiders host Southern Virginia at 7pm ET. There are eight returners and eight newcomers on this year’s roster. Chris Mooney begins his 21st season at Richmond.

The program is ##-# in season openers under Mooney and has won six straight.

Rookie Stats. Soccer player Emma Newman was named to the Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Soccer All-Rookie Team. Newman is the first Spider to earn a spot on the All-Rookie team since 2016. The forward led the Spiders with six goals, 14 points, 43 shots and 24 shots on target in the 18 matches she started in. 🏀 Here’s more about Newman.
